EV

— We’re the Future

East Village is Calgary at its most dynamic and creative, an exciting city neighbourhood and destination where Calgary’s most inspiring people, events and opportunities are concentrated in a few walkable, bikeable and well-connected streets.

East Village offers more city and more life—it’s a catalyst of urban culture, a future-facing hub of optimism, ideas and energy that is helping Calgary live its next chapter. For residents, businesses and visitors of all kinds, it’s the real-life city neighbourhood that’s evolving and defining not only the east end, but all of Calgary.

EVOLVING CALGARY

East Village is the place where the city was born, and it’s the real city neighbourhood where Calgary’s future continues to unfold. East Village has become a mixed-use neighbourhood that some 4,000 Calgarians already call home—residents live in a wide range of condominium homes and multi-family rental apartments with retailers on the streets below.

Innovation Comes
to Life

East Village is Calgary's most start-up-friendly neighbourhood. A catalyst of what’s next and a place that sparks new ideas and amplifies the city’s creative spirit. We are for leaders, disruptors and visionaries—we are home to the Platform Innovation Centre, the front door of the innovation community, and the Central Library who supply resources to open the doors of innovation to all. We're building the city's future in East Village.

The community offers gathering places for all ages and walks of life. The Crossroads playground is a favourite for young Calgarians, while abundant pocket parks provide welcoming spots for visitors and residents. Soon an urban market—5th & THIRD—will offer a Loblaws and other major retailers. Architecture enthusiasts will want to check out the Central Library and the striking Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre.

Mix business with pleasure

The three hotels in East Village make it increasingly attractive for business travellers and visitors to Calgary. Flexible office space is designed for start-ups and innovation, and the growing Bow Valley College enriches the intellectual capital of East Village.

The neighbourhood’s modern art and historic buildings make good neighbours: The brick Simmons Building is home to entrepreneurial culinary stars and inventive dining, and a variety of other historic buildings attest to the colourful past of East Village. RiverWalk and St. Patrick’s Island, exciting urban breathing spaces on the Bow River, bring nature to the doorstep of this authentic city neighbourhood.
